Oakland/University Park

Oakland, and the adjacent University Park neighborhood, is historically significant for their ability to remain intact as downtown Phoenix grew around them. At one time, the Bungalow and Spanish Colonial Revival homes provided housing for the employees of the nearby Sante Fe railroad. Today, this working class neighborhood still has strong ties to the industrial concerns that were so important to the valley's growth.
