Victoria Place
This small segment of McKinley Street in downtown Phoenix consists of a dozen or so homes built between 1913 and 1932. In an effort to build as many homes as possible on a relatively small parcel of land, the lot size was modified. They were laid out with a standard fifty-foot width, but only an eighty-foot depth. This, in turn, limited the street width to only forty feet (much narrower than the surrounding streets). Victoria Place is one of the first neighborhoods to exhibit the influence of the automobile on home styles with the emergence if the carport.
