Woodlea

One of the last districts in Phoenix to be designated as historic, Woodlea was built on land that was once lettuce fields. After developer Thomas Mackenzie purchased the land, he sold prospective homebuyers on the virtues of the "superior" water pumped from far underground. He even invited them to take some home with them as a souvenir! The majority of Woodlea was developed in the 1940's in the Transitional Ranch style. However, you will also find some stone cottages and English Tudor's throughout the neighborhood.
